The Frozen Trader Joe's Meals You Gotta Try

By Literally broke

What’s a self-isolator to do when they’re not in the mood to cook and saving money is the name of the game? Turn to my #1 BFF--Trader Joe’s frozen meals (TBH they’re what I subsist on in normal times, too).

Please note all of these options are either vegetarian or vegan, because going meat-free is better for the planet and your wallet!

Yellow Jackfruit Curry with Jasmine Rice

I’ve never loved anything the way I love jackfruit. This curry is delicious, filling, and an easy take-out substitute. It’s also an easy way to convince a veggie-skeptic of the wonders of jackfruit.

Vegetable Pad Thai

If you’re in the mood for a big bowl of noodles this meal should be your go-to gal. It’s the perfect meal for vegging out and watching Netflix (because honestly WTF else are you doing).

Channa Masala

Of the Trader Joe’s Indian options this is probably my fave. It’s healthy(ish) and the chickpeas are super filling. Grab their frozen naan for total ~takeout vibes~

Mushroom and Black Truffle Flatbread

I buy this flatbread for my fiancee just so I can smell it, which is totally normal? In my humble opinion it’s the best frozen meal at Trader Joe’s and pairs oh so well with a glass of Malbec.

Broccoli & Kale Pizza Crust

If you’re looking to avoid the quarantine 15 this is your buy! It bakes fairly quickly and you can easily customize with marinara sauce, your choice of cheese, and toppings. I like to add an egg when I’m feeling fancy!

TJ's sweet potato gnocchi is heaven-sent. Do yourself a favor and buy enough of this to last you until summer. I’m eating it as we speak.

Riced Cauliflower Bowl

Of all Trader Joe’s frozen meals this is the one I turn to the most. Depending on my mood I’ll add feta or an egg. You can also leave it as is if you’re vegan!

Shakshuka Starter Kit

I could write an ode to the shakshuka starter kit. Is it overpriced? Probably. But IDGAF. It’s so easy to make and really tricks you into thinking you’re having brunch in Istanbul. Just don’t forget to BYO eggs!

Gone Bananas Chocolate Covered Bananas

Be still my beating heart. So they’re not exactly a “meal” but I love these chocolate covered bananas like a first born. TJs also makes a chocolate covered strawberry version that is equally sublime. Compliments to the chef.

And there you have it! You can thank me later.
