June Net Worth Update

june net worth update

In the middle of the Black Lives Matter protests and the Coronavirus pandemic it feels silly to be posting a net worth update.

But since I committed to posting these updates, I’m going to tell you about my June anyway. They keep me accountable and I hope they inspire you to track your net worth and find new ways to make it grow.

As of today, June 15, 2020, my net worth is -$12,402. In the past month it’s grown by $1,975, which is the biggest increase I’ve had yet in 2020.

I attribute the growth to the following factors:

  • Less quarantine impulse shopping. I’ve accepted I’ll be wearing leggings for the next year. C’est la vie.

  • Meal planning. My fiancee and I are following the vegetarian Budget Bytes meal plan, which has been a game changer. Our weekly grocery spending has gone down by $50. On “bad” weeks I could also spend $125 on delivery (i know, i know). Suffice to say, I’m saving money.

  • Side hustle income. I was paid for three freelance invoices in June, so I made approximately $1,000 in additional income.  All of that went towards my student loans.

Takeaways: Get your budget right and look for a side hustle (even if it's just reselling your old clothing on Poshmark). By increasing your income and decreasing your expenses, your net worth can go up, too!

Until next time!
